What's At Stake

flooded street

When disaster strikes, we don’t have time to wait and see if politicians will do the right thing. Instead of keeping Wisconsinites safe, politicians want to change our state constitution to give themselves more power, delaying us from fixing roads and bridges or acting quickly in emergencies.

Our Crumbling Infrastructure Can't Wait

Wisconsin has the 5th worst road conditions.

Bridges like the Blatnik and Mississippi River bridges are in dire need of repair, causing safety hazards and inefficiencies.

Billions of funds for critical infrastructure upgrades hang in the balance should these amendments pass and block our funding process.

WHEN DISASTER STRIKES, FIRST RESPONDERS SHOULD BE IN CHARGE, NOT POLITICIANS.

Intense flooding is damaging roads, bridges, homes, and businesses statewide.

Increased heavy rainfall is outpacing our aging infrastructure, posing serious threats to our property and livelihoods.

These propositions would handcuff emergency funding, delaying relief and urgent infrastructure repairs.

Our Constitution Deserves Respect, Not Revisions

Amending our state's founding document should be reserved for society's most pressing issues—not for giving politicians more power.

Our constitution should serve to protect the rights of citizens and keep Wisconsinites safe, not increase bureaucracy and red tape.

Tell politicians: No tinkering with our foundational rights and principles for political gains.

VOTE NO ON STATE QUESTIONS 1 & 2.

What's on the Ballot

State Question 1:

Shall Article IV, Section 35 (1) of the Wisconsin Constitution be created to provide that the Legislature may not delegate its sole power to determine how moneys shall be appropriated.

  • What this means: Amend the state constitution to prohibit the legislature from delegating ANY appropriations authority. It would require the full legislature to deliberate and approve the allocation of all funds — even in emergencies.

State Question 2:

Shall Article IV, Section 35 (2) of the Wisconsin Constitution be created to prohibit the Governor from allocating any federal moneys the Governor accepts on behalf of the state without the approval of the Legislature by joint resolution or as provided by legislative rule?

  • What this means: Amend the constitution to bar the governor from spending ANY federal funds without explicit legislative approval, blocking rapid disbursement during crises.

POLITICIANS ARE TRYING TO TRICK YOU WITH INTENTIONALLY CONFUSING CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS THAT WOULD GIVE THEM EVEN MORE POWER AND CREATE MORE RED TAPE, MORE DELAYS, AND PUT MORE CITIZENS AT RISK.
